The Guardian of the Kōtukutuku is a tree spirit that lives in the Kōtukutuku (tree Fuschia) tree. This particular guardian cares for the tree’s flowers and ensures that they produce nectar for the bee community to pollinate. The guardian empowers the Konini Ngāokeoke ( Velvet worm) with the same custodial role. This character is part of a collection of eco-fiction toys that teach children about ecology and are themselves part of an ecosystem of interlinking playsets.
